Not today but last Saturday ...

....we had the most amazing get-together of The Sampler Guild at Britta's house in Alton in some county or other but not the county where Alton Towers is because that would have been way to far away, oh you dipstick here has remembered what county it's in - it is in Hampshire. Anyway the idea of these get-togethers is that everybody that attends brings a plate of some kind of food. One time we only had deserts and nothing else and not the last time at me but the time before the email I wrote to everyone was so ambiguous that nobody brought deserts and I had to send DH out to get Crispy Creme Donuts - what a hardship that was NOT.

Anyway I will get on with this posting we were asked by Britta to bring along our small things that we had stitched and dummy her forgot but no bother you have seen most of my things anyway and I was there camera at the ready and I took over 70 photos. So what I am going to do is show you them one day at a time and more than likely person by person.

So today as it was in Britta's house I will show you her wonderful stitching and finishing. So here goes - everything underneath is Britta's. You can click on any photo to make it much bigger.

As you can see Britta's taste in stitching is quite eclectic but she really does like Merry Cox. I mean who in the stitching world doesn't and she has been fortunate enough to attend a couple of Merry's classes in the States.

We all had a really lovely day and Britta's cake is just to die for and was worth every single calorie and in a couple of days I will show you another person's stitching. Probably Catherine ABC who came from France for this get-together along with her very lovely daughter Naomi (sorry if I have mis-spelled your name).

So until next time ...

Lots of Love

Because I just heard from Cindy that she knew she wouldn't be able to stitch this ever in this lifetime as she has so much already and hoped I didn't think her ungrateful which I most certainly did not. So she asked me to please do another draw using List Randomizer which of course I have now done. So Eva-Maria can I please have your full name and address? You can get my email address from this site I believe.

The other thing is I have won yet another award from Theresa and this time I have to list my five addictions which are in no particular order:

  1. This Apple Mac of mine which my DH says is either velcroed to my lap or else it's glued
  2. My stitching and legendary stash buying
  3. My Grandchildren
  4. Reading Blogs - but I now have this one all set. I have a Bloglist and it tells me when people have updated their Blogs which saves oodles of time.
  5. My little Yorkshire Terrier whose name is Gracie Amelia. She is named after Gracie Alan of George Burns and Gracie Alan fame and Amelia Aerhart. My cousin's nutty ex-wife was here when we got Gracie and Deborah (ex-wife) said that Gracie wouldn't get into the best Private Schools with only one name.
Now I have to nominate five people whom I think deserves this award:
  1. Theresa
  2. Maryse
  3. Chris
  4. Vonna
  5. Anne

So until next time ...

I know you didn't expect to hear from me ....

...until at least next Monday at the earliest but I received an award from my friend Wendy Jo who nominated me for the Special Friends Award and "Love" Pendant. The description for this award reads:

"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These Kind bloggers aim to be friends. They ar enot interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propogated. Please give more attention to these kind of writers. When you pass this award along please include these guidelines. I am to choose eight friends to share this with".

I became friendly with Wendy Jo through reading and loving her blog and signing up for her PIF and since then we write and correspond and I love her company and consider her a friend as I do these 8 people I am going to nominate now who are in no particular order:

1. Cindy F
2. Deb P
3. Deb
4. Susan
5. Carol
6. Ann
7. Chris
8. Terri
9. Karen - last but by no means least

I found choosing only eight a really hard thing to do and apparently I can't count but I really appreciated receiving this award and hope you guys do too as I consider you all really great friends, great stitchers and most of all really really nice people that I would hate not to have in my life.

Finally, please don't forget that I am having my first giveaway and it is in the post beneath this one so if you have't already please just leave a comment on my blog and you shall be included in the draw.

So until next time ...

Sorry no photos because I have been really lazy all weekend and slept most of it away and I promise I will take at least one tomorrow. In fact starting tomorrow I will be having regular give aways as I HAVE to reduce my stash big time. So instead of selling it I am going to be de-stashing by putting photos of what I am giving away and all you will have to do is ask to be included in it.

Secondly I have signed up for another PIF with Susan and I know that nobody wants to enter into them this year for some reason so what I am going to do to keep up my end of the bargains is give away something made by me every other month starting tomorrow. Again all you have to do is leave a message stating that you want to be included in the giveaway.

As you know I have had a Poll on my blog regarding what I stitch ATS on and over one or two. 42 people voted and I really thank you for this. 80% voted for over 2 on 40 count, 2% voted for over one on 32ct Evenweave and 16% voted for over one on 32ct Linen and I have absolutely no idea what happened to the missing 2% but there you go. So it shall be stitched over 2 on 40count and that fabric I already have.

I want to publicly thank Thomasina for her email. It really put things into perspective. She very rightly said that what makes ATS so special is the fact that it is so big and that only other stitchers would realize that I stitched it over one on 32ct although it looks amazing nobody else would realise this and just see it as yet another sampler.

So until next tomrrow when maybe I can stay awake for the whole day ...

Lots of Love

P.S. If you are wondering why I am giving this away it's because I know that I will never do this even though I had to have it at the time and my stash is way beyond HUGE so I would rather it went to a good home where it will be stitched.

I have been tagged AND I promise ...

.... to look for my camera tomorrow. But in the meantime I thought I would post again, as I found the saved files of this on my external hard drive, the best way ever I have found to start off a new piece of floss (double click on the photos and they get very BIG)

I know that, I think it is Mayte, does it a different way and I have started using her way to do this. This way you come up in at B leaving a little tail which you hold on to then go down at A then come up at C pull still holding on to the tiny piece of floss at the back and hope you never have to undo this because it is a b*stard if you do trust me.

To finish I sometimes, but not always I must admit, use the way diagrammed below only because I find it hard getting into the middle hole.

To do be honest sometimes I end this way and sometimes I don't and when I don't I just do it the usual old way of going behind the stitches and wrapping my thread around one of the back stitches and then going in again and draw the floss to the end of the row.

I still use Mayte's way even when I stitch over one. I just start it in a row where there will be at least three stitches of the same color and usually do it at the bottom of the stitches and you can never see where I have started or finished.

I have been tagged by Rosie and these are the rules:

1. Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.

3. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose people to get tagged and list their names.

4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged and to read your blog.

5. For the recipients, leave a comment for the person who tagged you, so they can go and read your answers.

Here are mine:

1. My favourite flowers are: Just about any I LOVE LOVE LOVE flower

2. I love my straight hair. When I was young I would have loved to have had curly blonde hair. Now I am just really thankful it isn't gray and I was so fed up with people accusing me of dying it that I did and I hate the color it has been dyed!

3. I hate confrontations with a total vengeance and think they would be ok if people told me what they were going to be about and gave me three days notice to think up all the good answers because I always think them up three days later.

4. I would love to hibernate all winter and never go out at all.

5. The furthest north I have travelled is - look I'm really crap at geography I have absolutely no idea what is the furthest north or south or west. East I know cause that's easy it's Los Angeles.

6. When away from home Larry (dh) always packs my bag for me and if I have gone away by myself then I have to repack it for coming home and I am absolutely useless at packing.

7. I decided quite some time ago that if there was something I could do then whatever my problem was would be worth worrying about and I could but if there was nothing I could do about it I would just forget it and get a goods night sleep and not let it keep me awake and so far it has worked beautifully.

8. I would like to be cremated but that just isn't going to happen because of my faith we are not allowed to desecrate our bodies even after death. I was going to be donor but nobody wants my stuff anyway because of the MS - can't even give blood which I would have happily done.

Ok I tag:

Su
Barbara
Wendy
Gwen

Finally, have you noticed how the words that the randomizer thingy brings up usually appears to be in a different language. However, today on one of the blogs I left a comment on my word was sojew - how great is that considering what I said above about being cremated (I just thought it was funny is all). Also I have taken off the word randomizer thingy on mine because my comments are moderated anyway and I just want to see who leaves me comments and that's why I moderate them.

So until next time ...

Lots of Love

Don't ask me ...

.... I have absolutely no idea where I put my darn camera but I will find it! I cleared up so well that I can't remember what I did with it but it will be found.

Anyway in the meantime does anybody know who designed this please? I FOUND IT IN MY STASH!!!! It was designed by CA Wells in 2001. AND I HAVE IT ALREADY! Talk about a HUGE stash!

it is driving me nuts and I would dearly love to stitch this. I really need to know who designed it so I can purchase a copy from my not-so-local (like 6,000 miles away) Needlecraft Shop!

I will find the camera in the next day or two and post on here what I have been stitching.

P.S. I have just been reliably informed that it is by C.A. Wells so guess neither I, nor anyone else, will ever get it. The person who told me said she thought it had been in a JCS Ornament Issue but from recollection I have absolutely no idea.

P.P.S. It is NOT in any of the JCS Ornament Magazines that I have. SO DOES ANYONE KNOW PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE?

So until next time ...

Lots of Love
